We believe that an excellent school should be a basic entitlement for every parent. Top Farm Community School (TFCS) will provide a ‘World Class’ education for students who live on and around the Top Farm residential development in Nuneaton.
At TFCS we will strive to ensure that students experience an education that is broad and balanced in nature, inspired in delivery, and empowering for all. The site will aim to benefit from extensive specialist sports and leisure facilities including a 6 or 8-court Sports Hall; 100 station personal fitness facility; dance studio; multi use games areas, grassed pitches and a 3G artificial pitch. Combined with other accessible and flexible spaces, these facilities will be in constant use throughout the year by students, parents and the wider community – serving as a cohesive force to drive families together; providing a powerful tool to stimulate social unity, encourage meaningful conversations between adults and young people, and better promote physical and mental well-being in a way that has not been seen in recent models across the UK. We will aim to become a model of excellence and a hub for sharing practice in delivering the recently published, national statement of intent – ‘School Sport & Activity Action Plan’. Reflecting this ambition, there will be an absolute expectation of parents, and an entitlement for children that everyone will engage in sport and active leisure with the aim of increasing participation rates, in their broadest sense, to at least 5 hours per week over a three-year period. Our facilities will directly impact on Disadvantaged children and their families who often do not have the financial resource and support to access these facilities in a traditional model.
The curriculum will provide an exciting and stimulating offer for all groups of learners, including those who are disadvantaged. Flexible curriculum pathways will inspire pupils in their learning; tailored to different groups of learners so as to allow all to feel success. A focus on the use of ‘World Class’ IT resources will allow disadvantaged students to access exciting learning opportunities in their school setting. The basic entitlement for all students to study subjects from the English Baccalaureate will be enshrined in our offer whilst a wealth of other subjects will be experienced via our innovative enrichment programme – including Classics; Philosophy; Drama; Music to name but a few!
